With more than 20 years of experience cooking in the finest restaurants, our chef is excited to present their vision to you and all our guests. Our caring and committed staff will ensure you have a fantastic experience with us.
Owner Sue Ko purchased The Wheelhouse in late 2017 from dear friends Gary and Sunny Chang, who ran the restaurant for over 20 years. Sue has operated restaurants in California and has been visiting Bandon for many years and is happy to have the opportunity to finally live here, to enjoy its pristine beaches, abundant golf courses and its friendly people.
“I have a great passion for the restaurant business,” Sue says. “I love to create delicious food and provide a warm and inviting atmosphere.”
Located at 125 Chicago Ave. SE, on First Street in Old Town, the entire restaurant has sweeping views of Bandon’s marina and Coquille River, even the historic Coquille River Lighthouse.
The Port of Bandon’s Boardwalk is across the street, featuring a lovely place to walk before or after a meal. Next door, find the Washed Ashore gallery, raising awareness of the trash polluting our oceans by making it into whimsical sculptures. Visitors are even invited to help create works of art.
Local beaches are less than 5 minutes away and the highly rated Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, featuring five golf courses open to the public, are a 10-minute drive to the north, and Bandon Crossings Golf Course the same distance to the south. See cranberry bogs alongside U.S. Highway 101 on your way to this beautiful and unspoiled seaside town that features a unique mixture of a progressive yet “coastal village” atmosphere.
Dine upstairs in the Crowsnest Lounge or downstairs, with cozy fireplaces in each location for those stormy coastal days.
Try one of Chef Tom’s fan favorites, such as the Halibut and Wild Prawn Romeo Pasta or Rockfish Etouffee. The Spinach Pie or Sauteed Seasonal Vegetables offer hearty vegetarian options. The famous Wheelhouse Salad, drizzled with a sweet and tangy French dressing and sprinkled with fresh cocktail shrimp and dried sweetened cranberries, will whet your appetite.
Juicy hand-cut steaks, seared to order, Cilantro-Pesto Chicken, Cranberry Chicken, Fish and Chips, Wheelhouse Seafood Platter fried or grilled, Rockfish Yucatan, Cippiono, Seafood Crepes, Pork Chop with a spicy rub, Blackened Halibut, Flatiron Steak Bordelaise, thick and creamy clam chowder, oyster stew and even a kids menu will satisfy every appetite in your group.
The menu also includes regular seasonal specials, such as corned beef, gumbo, barbecued ribs or local lamb. Each meal is accompanied by Sue’s homemade cranberry bread – a crusty yeast bread with tart cranberries throughout.
For dessert, try the Peanut Butter Pie or Chocolate Flourless Cake or, on the lighter side, Russian Cream or Chocolate Mousse, among other delectable sweets.
A full lunch menu is served from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
